The Tuna Valley Trail Association (TVTA) is in the process of developing a project known as Marilla Landing, which will include the construction of a new trailhead/event facility needed to meet the increased usage of the twenty-three miles of trails, the all-season recreational offerings in the Marilla Reservoir area, and the planned construction of additional trails in and around Gilbert Reservoir. The below renderings of the Landing and the Overlook show the current development concept plan.
The Marilla Trails Landing will be situated on the level, vacant lot on the hillside across the road from the Marilla Reservoir. Amenities will include a unisex restroom, a 36-foot by 60-foot open air roofed pavilion, a 44-space gravel parking lot, an overlook area to view the Marilla Reservoir and a pedestrian crossing with warning lights for safe access from the Marilla area trails to the Marilla Trails Landing.
In addition to providing daily overflow parking for the ever-increasing use of the Marilla area trails, the Project will be a gathering place for two of our largest events held annually at Marilla Reservoir…the Marilla Trail Race in October and the Winter Trek in February. Additionally, we are considering making the facility available for weddings, class reunions and other special events.
The Project is currently in the preliminary design phase. The TVTA is applying for grant funding assistance and may need to do some local fund raising to fully implement the concept plan. Stay tuned for project updates as we develop Marilla Landing and continue our work to expand the TVTA trail system and facilities for the enjoyment of our enthusiastic trail users.
