The weather has been beautiful, and it’s been great seeing all of you enjoying the trails. Whether you are running or walking alongside Tuna Creek on the Crook Farm Trail, enjoying the beauty of Pitt Campus on the Richard McDowell Trail, or hiking through the woods on one of the many trails at the Marilla Reservoir, now is the perfect time of year for enjoying all that the trails have to offer.
But, did you know that you can become a member of the Tuna Valley Trail Association? It’s easy to do and affordable, and here are 5 reasons you should become a member.
- The Tuna Valley Trails are YOUR Trails
McKean County is Pennsylvania’s “Trail Central” and right in its heart is the Tuna Valley Trail System with its 42 miles of trails. People travel from all over the United States to enjoy the beauty of the rolling hills in your backyard.
- Membership Dues Go Towards Maintaining The Trails
The TVTA board is made up of a diverse group of volunteers, all lending their expertise. No salaries are paid to any of the board members so all the money received from memberships and donations goes right back into maintaining and expanding the trail system.
- Membership Monies Help TVTA Receive Grant Money
There are numerous grants available to help expand and enhance our trails. However, some awards are “matching grants”, meaning that they will match the amount of money designated for particular projects. The more money we have, the more money we can receive.
- You Will Keep Our Membership Coordinator Busy
This one is for the guys. When our Membership Coordinator doesn’t have enough to do, she goes around her house and finds projects for her husband. When you get a membership to TVTA, you are literally helping out a fellow man.
- You Will Get a Membership Card
When you become a member of the TVTA, you receive a membership card. It won’t get you out of speeding tickets, and it doesn’t come with a decoder ring, but it’s a lovely card and, it’s all yours with a paid membership.
The Tuna Valley Trail System is a valuable asset to our community and yours to enjoy. But we need your support. By becoming a member of the Tuna Valley Trail Association, you help ensure the trails will be around for years to come. You can become a member by printing out an application or joining online.
Happy trails!!
